This is a long ride, and rather later in the year than usual, therefore with less daylight. With no mishaps or mechanicals we would be back well before sunset but, to leave a little contingency, I propose a 9.00 start. Elevenses is booked. Barton offers a choice of lunchtime options. I don't expect any opportunity for an afternoon cake stop, so please bring a snack if you're someone who needs fuel. Shops and/or pubs in Melbourne and Elvington should be open when we pass. Route: Stockton-on-the-Forest, Stamford Bridge, Pocklington, Burnby, Wolds Way Cafe (elevenses), Market Weighton, Cherry Burton, Walkington, Swanland, Barton-Upon-Humber (lunch, choice of cafes), Elloughton, North Cave, Melbourne, Elvington, Wheldrake, Bishopthorpe. Distance: 98 miles (or 92 with a direct return from Elvington via B1228) Ascent: 3500 ft GPS: www.plotaroute.com/route/2002036
