A ride around the western edge of the Wolds featuring two motte and bailey castles (Burythorpe and Acklam) and a medieval village (Hanging Grimston). Route: Stockton on the Forest, Upper Helmsley, Bossall, Howsham, Westow, Burythorpe, Birdsall, Leavening, Acklam, Leppington, Barthorpe, Acklam, Thrussendale Rd, Roman Rd, Uncleby, Hanging Grimston, Roman Rd, A166 to Worsendale Rd, Bishop Wilton, Full Sutton, Stamford Bridge, Warthill, Murton. Distance: 58 miles The route is on-road except for an out and back along 700 metres of rough farm track to the south of Burythorpe. Sandwiches, snacks and drinks are essential as the route does not pass any cafes until Bishop Wilton.
