This is a nice little route to the spectacular How Stean Gorge which is a limestone ravine located in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. Distance 92miles with 5,626ft of ascent. Our route takes us out of York via Newton on Ouse, Boroughbridge, calling at The Sun Parlour in Ripon for elevenses (28m). Then onwards via Grewelthorpe, Swinton, Lofthouse then stopping at How Stean Gorge for lunch (50m). Our return ride home will be alongside Gouthwite Reservoir then via Wath, Pateley Bridge, Smelthouses, Burnt Yates, Ripley (67m) where we may call in for one of their renowned ice creams, cycle track to Knaresborough, then home via Cowthorpe, Tockwith and Rufforth. As on previous 1A Rides, please bring your own food and drink supplies as we will not be planning a formal sit down lunch stop.
