The contractors are then looking to close the bridge again between 8th January and 12th January 2024 to fully complete these repairs. UPDATE MESSAGE FROM SUTTON UPON DERWENT PC @ 3:03pm, Friday 5th January 2024: "We have just spoken with ERYC engineers regarding Hagg Bridge. The temporary reopening of the bridge will end on Monday 8th January, as planned. All efforts are being made (including removal of surface water, which is ongoing) to ensure that work can commence from this point. Whether work can commence or not from Monday will largely be down to weather/flood conditions over the weekend and into next week, but given the temporary nature of the surface on part of the bridge and its degradation over the festive period, the closure on Monday is deemed necessary regardless, on the grounds of safety. If work cannot continue early next week, it is likely that the job will have to be pushed back, as colder weather is anticipated after this. If this is the case, ERYC will look to redo the temporary surface on the bridge to allow the bridge to reopen once again until such a time that conditions allow the work to continue." From Sutton upon Derwent Facebook page on Saturday 13th January: Hagg Bridge should reopen on Monday 15th January, as planned. Application of road markings and traffic light recommissioning will need to take place on Monday itself, so the opening time is as yet unknown, but should be before 5pm.
